Anyone who ever did anything worth doing holds beliefs. Whether it be religion, non religion, ethics, principles or morals, they cannot achieve anything without these. People who believe otherwise are wrong; dead wrong. Not only do they lack beliefs, but these individuals usually want to stop you from having yours. Unfortunately, your credence is a threat to their way of life. They feel inadequate next to you. It is one thing to discuss or try to persuade you, but these individuals preach hate, ignorance, anger and superiority as a means to stop you from holding on to your truths. Beliefs, as a whole, are not facts; there is a difference. They may consist of facts or may possibly be completely made up. This will be the basis of the argument from the hateful individuals. No matter what ideas you have accepted, they will try and do two things. They want to point at the holes in your system in order to bring light to theirs which also looks like Swiss cheese. The other thing possible is much worse. Many times, especially with religion and self perception, people would prefer you have nothing. Think of it like currency exchange; I may exchange dollars for Euros if at that time, I have concluded that they are worth more. Haters often would prefer that you are broke however. Your convictions are wrong and they don’t present a better idea so you are now left with nothing. Unfortunately without a guiding light, a ship may forever be lost at sea.
Surround yourself with open minded people. To only keep company with individuals with whom you think alike, will lead to a narrow mind set and you may end up like the haters you are trying to avoid. You want people who challenge you beliefs, but will accept them either way. Hold on to something as the ultimate truth, even though it can be disproved, in order to avoid being in the dark.
Failure is a milestone in every great story because unlike other elements in a good novel, this is an absolute necessity. The only person who never failed, never tried; therefore, that would mean that every single great individual in any particular field has to have met this unfortunate event at least once. Notice I called it an event, because that’s what it is. Too often we come to think of failure as a person, namely ourselves. It is not a personality trait however, it does not define a person, but it will define their story. When I speak about failure, I am not talking about stumbling. I am discussing something that completely brings all momentum to a halt, almost negating prior success, something that puts in jeopardy all previous circumstances. This is the tipping point. This is what separates all heroes from the average. When you reach this point in your timeline, to give up would be acceptable. It would be warranted and no one would fault you for doing so. But to proceed after this experience is what you will be remembered for. To win isn’t to have the best record, it’s having gotten up one more time than you’ve gotten knocked down. At that point in time, failure has made you a winner.
Being wrong is one of the best experiences one SHOULD ask for. While that is quite an ironic statement, it is true for a number of reasons. Being wrong is humbling. A person who seems to never be wrong gains an inflated ego often. When one is faced with a different truth than his own and can recognize this, his knowledge is proven wrong but his wisdom grows exponentially. The individual who is open minded will be the wisest even if he does not have the most information. Accept things and ideas as they come and even scholars will envy your intellectual powers.
Destiny is an excuse for being a victim of circumstances. It takes a strong individual to disregard the reality of his current situation and set planned goals for how he should relieve himself of his situation. Destiny in the real world is where you end up at the end of your journey but cannot be predetermined. An infinite number of variablesthat decide our fate result from the fact that all events and people are intertwined. Trying to stick to a certain path will most likely cause ruin as any man who has found any measure of success must consider himself to be flexible. There’s No point in crying over spilled milk.
I pity those who pride themselves on hard work. Not that working hard is something to be ashamed of but rather it should not be the focus. Instead, working efficiently should be the main concern of every individual at any given moment of their life. A prosperous man used to be made from years of sweat, blood and tears; now individuals strive to attain the same assets before they can legally drink a beer. I have a family member who is the hardest working individual I know to a fault, and is paralyzed with the fear of failure because in his mind, working hard and staying out of other people’s way is the best course in life. The entire focus of his being is to not piss anybody off and help them get rich. Even with this line of thinking, you will make people upset because you aren’t willing to get people upset. Contradictory lifestyle if you ask me. Success is a race with many obstacles and shortcuts. At any given moment, him or any other losing man can surpass another should they choose to focus their energy on winning instead of taking the lead. Long term goals are always missed in place of short term victories with unsuccessful peoples. Not that I have all the knowledge, nor am I in first place. I’ve just reached a point where I feel one should either plan to take a trophy or… that’s it. There are no other options. Any man whole falls short of excellence in his pursuit of perfection has wasted a lifetime and all of the resources others have poured into him.
The problem isn’t the problem, it’s the attitude about the problem that’s the problem. I am a firm believer that almost any problem can be overcome by a steadfast morale and a cool head. For those rare exceptions when the attitude won’t win the battle, the experience gained from such an event is priceless and won’t spon be forgotten.
